Caltrain Modernization Projects Safety and Security Programs:
B&G Transportation Group is currently representing Caltrain as its safety representative in support of ongoing capital project initiatives for the CalMod PTC and Electrification projects. Services include oversight of the projects safety and security certification requirements, hazard management program, development of project safety documents, safety committee participation, and field safety inspections. B&G Transportation Group also has worked with the Caltrain management team in evaluating its safety program and providing recommendations to support ongoing development.
LA Metro Safety Culture and Rail Operational Safety Review:
At the direction of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) Board of Directors and the Metro Inspector General, B&G Transportation Group participated on a team to perform an assessment of Metro Rail's safety culture, review the occurrences of Red Signal Violations (RSV), and provide proposed recommendations designed to support LA Metro safety improvements. B&G Transportation Group worked closely with LA Metro staff in reviewing current safety initiatives to mitigate signal violation overruns including engineering, procedural, and training related programs and identified proposed improvement opportunities.
American Public Transportation Association (APTA) System Safety Management Program:
For the past 17 years, B&G Transportation Group has been closely involved with APTA’s Rail, Bus and Commuter Rail Safety Management Programs, which are designed to provide transportation agencies with an evaluation of their System Safety and Security Programs. B&G Transportation Group’s participation with the APTA program included responsibility for assessing system safety and security programs throughout the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, and Singapore and providing recommendations utilizing industry established guidelines to support the respective organizations program development, application, and continuous improvement objectives.
